This guide will help you integrate Databricks with Reco to enhance monitoring and security within your data analytics environment.

Introduction to Databricks

Databricks provides a unified analytics platform that allows for large-scale data processing and machine learning. It facilitates collaboration between data scientists, engineers, and business analysts.

Integrating Databricks with Reco ensures that your organization's assets and sensitive data hosted on Databricks are secured. This integration is crucial for protecting your data infrastructure against misconfigurations, and potential security threats in and out of the organization and maintaining compliance with industry standards around this environment.

Prerequisites for Integration

  • Databricks Admin Role: Required to access and manage Databricks settings.

  • Reco Admin Role: Necessary for setting up and managing the integration within Reco.

  • (Optional) Enterprise plan: Required to access network audit and settings. You can view and change your subscription plan under "Settings" -> "Subscriptions".

Configure Databricks

The following steps will guide you to obtain 3 necessary fields for integration with Reco:

  • Secret

  • Client ID

  • Account ID

  1. Log in to your Databricks account console (not workspace!).

  2. Click on "User Management" in the sidebar.

  3. Click on the "Service principals" tab

  4. Click on the "Add service principal" button that is in the right corner

  5. Name it "Reco" and click "Add".

  6. In the "Service principals" tab choose the newly created "Reco" entry.

  7. Click on the "Roles" tab and enable "Account Admin"

  8. Click the "Principal information" tab of "Reco".

  9. Click on the "Generate secret" under the button ("OAuth secrets" title) and copy the generated "Secret" and "Client ID":

  10. Finally, at the top right corner, click on your profile name (email) and copy your Account ID:

Integrating with Reco

In the Databricks integration, pop-up screen in Reco fill in the 3 fields you have obtained before and click on "Connect":

Data Ingestion: What We Collect

  • Scope and Data: Reco collects data related to user activities, access logs, and configuration changes within Databricks to enhance security and operational oversight.
